 Gas Leak Explosion in Feni Injures Three, Including a Woman

Three individuals, including one woman, sustained burn injuries in a severe explosion caused by a gas leak in a residence in Feni Sadar.

The accident occurred late Monday night (November 3rd) around 8:30 PM.

The injured are: Md. Rafiqul Islam (40), Abul Kashem (55), and Jesmin Akter (30). They were rescued and immediately admitted to the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) late that night.

Medical Condition

Professor Dr. Bidhan Sarkar, Head of the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit at DMCH, confirmed their admission:

• Rafiqul Islam: Sustained 22% burn injuries.

• Abul Kashem: Sustained 20% burn injuries.

• Jesmin Akter: Sustained 13% burn injuries.

Dr. Sarkar stated, “All three have sustained burn injuries to their respiratory tracts. They have been admitted and are receiving treatment.”

He added, “We learned from the family members of the injured that they were burned in an explosion resulting from a gas leak in a house in Feni. We have informed the police camp in-charge at Dhaka Medical College Hospital about the incident.”

Doctors noted that the condition of all three is critical, and they are currently under intensive observation in the Burn Unit.
